Welcome to the Robodox 599 Underwater ROV website! As a robotics team, we are building an underwater Open ROV (remote-operated vehicle) to explore the coast and collect video feed of the plastic pollution in the ocean. You can learn more about the Open ROV at http://openrov.com/ By raising awareness at competitions and our school, we’ll teach our community to be more environmentally friendly. With our participation at the Algalita International Youth Summit 2014, we hope to assist in solving the worldwide plastic pollution problem. You can learn more about it at http://2014.algalitayouthsummit.org/ You can find more information about our work at our mentor's blog: http://vamfun.wordpress.com/ and our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/530064350368586/
To make our reel more efficient, we changed the design of the reel to include a crank so that the operator of the spool can manually retract or extend the ROV tether to suit the depth of the robot.
